Haussman Construction Company was selected by the Building Committee
of the First Baptist Church to perform the addition to their existing
church using Construction Management for project delivery.
The project included a 16,000 square foot addition, and a construction
cost of approximately $1,800,000.
The project broke ground in April 1999 and was completed on schedule
in February 2000.
The addition involved adding a gymnasium and several classrooms.
Remodeling portions of the existing structure is also included in
the scope of the project.
The structure is a masonry exterior load bearing wall system with
structural steel interior support and roof framing. The exterior
walls on three sides of the gymnasium are constructed to act as
not only the support for the gymnasium roof framing, but also to
retain up to 10 feet of earth due to the existing exterior grades
around the addition.
This project included a $200,000 contingency for unforeseen situations.
Haussman Construction Company is proud of the fact that this contingency
was, for the most part, unused for the project. This is a tribute
to the fact that we strive for completeness when generating our
clients with budgeting for their projects. In addition, thorough
reviews during the design process serves to be an invaluable commodity
for the construction phase of any project.
